Original Copy of Double Page Spread Article
What inspired you to become
a rap artist?
- Rappers like Notorious B.I.G. and Eminem were my my main influence growing up and since listening to Eminem for the first time I dreamt of becoming a famous rapper.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
- I see myself releasing another album worldwide.I want to re-invent the rap genre and make a household
name for myself.
Why are you successful?
- I always write lyrics that are true and honest. I never try to be someone I’m not/if you don’t like what I do
then jog on.
Do you see yourself as a role-model?
- I don’t know if
i would classify myself as a role model. I’m just doing me and if you want to follow in my
footsteps then go ahead.
What advice would you give to aspiring artists?
- Do you. Don’t let anyone try and stop you from
achieving your dreams because at the end of the day people come in and out of
your life.
Are you planning to tour anytime soon?
-Yes hopefully in summer I’ll be touring the country,
promoting my new and upcoming album.
Are you excited about the upcoming MTV awards?
- Yes very, win or lose I’m glad to be nominated.
You were rumoured to being closely associated with Allana
Lee, is this true?
- Nah, were just really good friends. We have
loads in common. The press have been releasing some ludicrous stories about
Allana and I, its obviously lies.

Drafting of Page Layouts
I followed the conventions of a rap music magazine in the way that I had my artist in the middle of the page facing the camera. I made sure that the bar code was at the bottom corner of the page so that there was no distraction from the cover.
I decided to put my features and content along the left hand side of the contents page just like other rap music magazines did. I then decided that I would put multiple photos on the right hand side of the page to entice the reader into reading the articles. I conventionally put page numbers next to the content titles so that the audience could access the desired content quickly. However, I unconventionally decided to change the size of the content titles and page numbers in accordance to its popularity. I believe this would entice readers into reading the big stories.
I decided to conventionally use columns to display the written information of the double page spread. However, I decided against using just one image as I believe that three images will give the audience a greater understanding of the artist being discussed.

Audience Research Survey
Alongside my focus group video, I have devised a survey that I asked fellow media students who enjoyed rap and would purchase rap music magazines to fill out:

Moodboard
I created a moodboard revolving around things that are associated with the rap genre:
- I included the alcoholic drink Ciroc as many famous rappers are often seen drinking it.
- Trainers, a hat, a watch and a Gucci belt were included in my moodboard as most rappers wear fashionable clothes.
- I also included a few nice black car as rappers are often seen associating with these types of motor vehicles.
- Money was included as a large amount of rap songs revolve around money.
- A microphone was included in my moodboard as it connotes how the artists have actually become famous.

Foundation Portfolio Targets
Research and planning
1.
See new AS deadlines on Fronter
and add new tasks. Also use Susana Quinn blog for guidance (on Fronter).
2.
Carry out more detailed
research into examples of professional magazines – aim for analysis of 3
covers, 3 contents pages and 3 double page spreads. This can be annotated
analysis (See Susan Quinn blog on Fronter). Ensure that examples are recent
(last 2-3 years) and from the same genre as the product you will create.
3.
Add focus group video responses
(or questionnaire results) – show how this research has informed your final
product.
4.
In title block analysis,
analyse mastheads from the same genre as your own – show how this research has
informed your final product (include your own design and explain choices).
5.
Costume props planning – show
how this research has informed your final product.
6.
Drafting – explain choices made
(base on professional pages).
7. Research and planning should show
in-depth analysis - this element is worth 20% of the marks, so a lot is
expected (see level of detail in Susana Quinn blog on Fronter).
Product
1.
Make
it clear what genre your product belongs to. Show that you have engaged with
the codes and conventions of your chosen genres.
2.
Find PSD files and I will help
you to improve
Evaluation
1. Use a wider variety of ICT in the
Evaluation (not just text, images and slides). This is a requirement in the
Marking Criteria. Use a wide variety of appropriate resources in the
evaluation, such as Youtube, Prezi, Soundcloud, Urturn, Glogster, Wix etc.
2. Evaluation should show in-depth
analysis - this element is worth 20% of the marks, so a lot is expected (see
level of detail in Susana Quinn blog on Fronter).
Overall,
the blog should be used as a detailed work in
progress, which highlights the creative journey that you have
undergone – post to your blog weekly, showing what you have done, why and what
you have learned .
